The Professional Drivers Foundation was for the third year running invited to The Gathering of the Griffin which was held at Orwell Crossing Truck stop on 26th/27th September 2015
The event was a gathering of immaculate Scania’s, all highly polished, but most were working trucks. Some vintage, some customised, some new but with one thing in common, it was a gathering of friends for the PDF both old and new. The vehicles had travelled from all over the UK and the EU to attend what is fast becoming the biggest show of Scania’s in one place.
The event was organised by Rob Billman, Michelle Lines and the crew who worked tirelessly all weekend to see everything ran to plan, and wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of Anne Blowers of Orwell Truckstop, whose premises provided a perfect setting.
On Sunday a truck pull over 100 feet was organised and five teams competed,The Braintree Mafia, Alwyn/Barwell Team, Cobley Cobs, the Murdoch Boys and the Paisley Boys. The competition was fierce and times ranged from 1m 18s to a very fast 32.75 seconds achieved by The Paisley Boys!
The PDF manned Honesty buckets at the car park and at any point we could find. We held a Raffle with goods donated to us by Creative Funding Solutions, Lizard Lick Towing, Live Promotion Events, White Diamond Detailing Products, CDC, Gonia Truck and Anglo Dutch \model Trucks.
Our thanks go out to the donors of the prizes.
The grand total raised was £675.76, which was a tremendous boost to the PDF’s funds.
We would like to thank everyone involved in this for inviting us but most of all the generosity of the drivers who gave so willingly to help fellow drivers in need.
Camaraderie is still alive and well and it lives on at the Gathering of the Griffin!
The PDF are so proud to be a part of you all.
