Minutes of AGM

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the Professional Drivers Association.

Held at Manor Farm Community Centre, Eye, March 1st 2008

Present: John Bramwells (chair), Ian Ratcliffe, Pat Nicholson, Eric Wilsher, Chris Beecham, Tommy Jacobs and Wendy Bramwells.

Apologies: Paddy Laban, Rob Willmott, Ted Boucher.

The meeting opened at 1000. The Chair welcomed the members The minutes of the 2007 AGM were agreed as a true and accurate record.


!. Trustees Reports.

John Bramwells as Company Secretary laid the Annual Report before the meeting.
Ian Ratcliffe as the Membership Secretary reported that there is a hard core of members who stay with us, but most members join for a year and leave without renewing. We are solvent on membership numbers. We have also been in operation for 6 years.

2: Approval of Accounts.


Pat as Treasurer laid the accounts before the meeting. and She told us that the PDA had changed accountants. The old accountant had charged £650 to do the accounts; she had made arrangements to get them done for £200. The meeting agreed to pay the bill. John Bramwells proposed, Ian Ratcliffe seconded that the accounts be approved. Carried unanimously

3. Election of Trustees

No Trustees are standing down this year. Chris Beecham was nominated by Tommy Jacobs, seconded Wendy Bramwells. Elected unopposed. The number of Trustees is now settled.

4. Any Other Business.

Truckfest: This will be held over the May Bank Holiday., May 4th and 5th. The meeting agreed to buy a remote controlled forklift to use for the competition. Priestley HGV Training are to have their unit on the stand, but not space in the marquee. Driver Timer are to have marquee space for sales. Jen from Truckerplace.eu is going to use the stand as a rendezvous point.. The discounted price for PDA members is £22.
Further approaches are to be made to enforcement bodies to get them on the stand. Eric suggested a banner across the stand. Chris is supplying a fridge. The Driver Safety Leaflet is ongoing with Pat; Wendy suggested manula handling as a subject, and pictures of trucks and cars in stupid places.

Ted Boucher is to run the PDA Truckfest Raffle. Prizes will be a Digifob, radio controlled lorry, model DAF, and a Driver Timer. We will approach Priestley Training for another one if possible.

Proposed John, seconded Wendy, passed unanimously.

John and Wendy will run the forklift competition at 50p a go.

Wendy is to price printed balloons.

Training Day 2008.

The Training Day will be on the 17th or 18 th of May. Eric Wilsher will attend and do the reversing. Leaflets will be handed out at Truckfest, and we will require pre-booking. We will also request the specific area of interest, and limit numbers. We need commitment from trainers. We also need to find an instructor for digital tachos. It was agreed to approach local training schools for help. Ian will video the event.
