A promise of Spring soon dashed. Most of my week has been aimed at avoiding Cheltenham an d all the Gee Gee's. Before you used to get queues of cars trying to get into the place, now they have their own heliport complete with Air Traffic Control _________________ Squarepeg ()

Monday: A restful day off after a day trip to Europe, pausing to catch up with family on the way back up
Tuesday: As my motor hadn't made it back from its Monday adventures I set off to Rye Park in a rented Scania. More headroom in the Topline cab compensated for less horses under my foot. From Rye Park it was a ride out into the countryside to Maldon in Essex. A previous trip had been a little fraught with some poor guesses made about the best road in. This time a new route was selected, and fingers duly crossed as I turned off the A12 and rolled down some of Essex's lesser lanes. Confidence in my choices was quickly gained as three lorries from the firm I was delivering to passed me in the opposite direction , confirming this was the best route into there. Once tipped it was back out and up to Kings Lynn to load one home.
Wednesday: With my regular vehicle still missing up the road somewhere its back into the renter, and once we got the trailer loaded off to Watford. Back up to Hemel, then over to Chesham, and a little yard at the end of an estate. Getting in wasn't too taxing, but getting out needed all their vans moving, and the diff lock to get over the slope whilst turning around . Back up to Kings Lynn and load one home.
Thursday: Reunited with my regular unit at last, we celebrate by going to Rye Park . A quick visit to Cheshunt follows, then down to Woodford Green and Hackney. The last two pallets go into Bromley by Bow, via a queue of over an hour, then its a load of pallets from Bedford back to HQ.
Friday: Arrive in the yard to discover I've gained an extra delivery for the day! First stop Rye Park, then down to Waltham Abbey before running into Enfield. Here its more than two hours spent getting five pallets off the trailer, which isn't bad going considering they're busy. Next comes the late extra, an urgent drop into Croydon. The clock is ticking after this, so I swap trailers with another driver in Dartford, and he heads for Edmonton whilst I run for home. _________________ Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.
