Hello there
Dont know much about the digi card
But when I put mine in it brings up my name as it loads and then says 'driving with out card 38' for about 30 seconds and then brings up the normal things it should say for another 30 seconds and then back round again all day long
I flicked through the machine the other day and it said I had an eror 50 code

I have gone over my hours a few times now and had my card put into the oporators machine to upload and nothing said
so I dont know

Any ideas please
Thanks LT

Check the machine BEFORE you insert the card. If it says "Driving Without Card"
(meaning someone has moved the vehicle without a card inserted) Press the OK button to clear this message, if you don't the error will be recorded on your card

Confused
So the error is with the machine not my card
So your saying if another driver did not instal his card and I intall mine the error will show when my card is inserted in the lorries machine and the oporators card reader as well and will not show my hours I have done Confused

If I press the OK button before inserting my card then my card will work fine?

I see this regularly as my unit is moved by the night staff.

As Ted says, press OK before inserting your card and that will clear the error code.

I'm not sure if it records on your card if you don't though.

Error code 38 is 'printer drawer open' and code 50 is 'card cannot be read or written to'. Any fault or event that is not 'cleared' will be remembered by the tachograph and keep re-appearing. To clear a fault or event you must press the 'ok' button twice, once to stop it flashing and again to get rid of it and of course address the issue that's causing the fault, in this case close the printer drawer. Driving without a card cannot possibly be stored on a driver card, how can it be? There are many Driver CPC courses that will or should tell you how the digital tachograph works, I suggest you go on one fairly quickly, graduated fixed penalty 'failure to ensure proper use of the driver card' - 200.00. 'Failure to ensure proper use of the recording equipment' - 120.00.

In my 2 years experience as a trainer I always find that those who protest the most about not needing training, are those that need it most Wink

Funny though, after 7 hours with me locked in a room, they are also those who go out having learned the most Wink Very Happy

It's the witches broom. It stands in the corner, in plain sight of all the trainees, AND IS NEVER EVER REFERRED TO. Wink Wink Wink

At least she doesn't make us juggle to warm up.

I've not been on a CPC course but I would imagine they would at the very least teach the basics of digital tacho and maybe if not making you learn all the various codes then at least show you how to find them.

I've been thinking about this Paradox all day, how those who shout the loudest against it show time and again how much they would benefit from a few sessions.
